What does a Hiab Truck do?
A Hiab crane truck is a mobile crane that is mounted on a heavy-duty, modified truck chassis that is able to lift, lower or move loaded materials horizontally and vertically.
Hiab is a Swedish company that builds loading equipment for transportation purposes, such as, mobile cranes, forestry cranes, recycling cranes, truck mounted forklifts, hook lifts and tail lifts.
Because of Hiab’s build quality, durability and name recognition ‘Hiab’ has become a well known term when referring to all types of truck mounted mobile cranes, regardless of the manufacturing brand or the type of crane. Hiab is mostly known for their folding boom cranes, but they also manufacture smaller stiff boom cranes. Stiff Booms are also called Telescopic Cranes.
Amco Veba, Palfinger and National are just a few examples of other well known Folding Boom and Stiff Boom crane manufacturers. Other companies that have established themselves for building larger hydraulic mobile cranes include Link-Belt, Grove and P&H.
There are 3 different types of mobile cranes, Stiff Booms, Folding Booms, and Hydraulic Cranes. These cranes come in multiple configurations to best meet the needs of customers.
Mobile cranes are typically used for construction, infrastructure, transportation, roofing, HVAC, and industrial moving. Our mobile crane fleet can also be used for installing pre-cast concrete, concrete blocks, and MOT barriers.
