Stiff Boom Cranes, also known as Telescopic or Straight Boom Cranes utilize a hydraulic winch to lift materials that are raised or lowered using the “boom”. The boom is the steel arm of the crane that holds the load of materials being moved. A Stiff Boom Crane can be maneuvered in 4 different ways. The boom can be rotated, extended, lifted, and the the hydraulic winch can raise or lower.
Due to the fact that a Stiff Boom Crane can only lift objects straight up and down, this can limit the variety of jobs these cranes can handle. This type of crane is perfect for gently placing fragile items, or lifting heavy objects. In certain situations, Stiff Boom Cranes have superior ability to reach over obstructions such as fences or walls as compared to other types of cranes. Stiff Boom Cranes are ideal for transportation of materials that need to be suspended for large amounts of time in large areas with ease of maneuverability.
