A Successful Day Focused on Mental Health, Safety, and Compliance
On April 29th, 2023, Can Ridge Industries Ltd. held its Annual Safety Day at our maintenance and Industrial Moving facility in Pitt Meadows, BC. This event was organized by our Safety Committee with great support from the administrative staff who helped prepare training packages and exercises. The team was curious and engaged, making for a successful Safety Day.
It is important to note that our 2023 Safety Day took place one day after the National Day of Mourning, which is marked annually in Canada on April 28th, dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives or suffered injury or illness from their job. Can Ridge Industries Ltd. recognizes the importance of this day and reaffirms our commitment to worker and workplace safety.
To start the day, we had a fantastic presentation by Cam Keller on mental health and safety, followed by a presentation from Jon at Ascension Benefits Inc. detailing their ‘Your Life’ support program.
The team then broke off into group presentations to work on improving safety and efficiency in the workplace.
A great lunch was provided by ML-Truck Equipment Ltd, who shared their deep knowledge of Hiab cranes, maintenance routines and schedules, as well as best practices. It was an excellent opportunity for team members to learn from other professionals in the industry.
Two local BC Commercial Vehicle Safety & Enforcement (CVSE) officers also came to present their wisdom and provide instructions on compliance and regulations within the commercial transport sector, with the goal of increasing road safety. The presenters provided helpful knowledge and strategies that can be implemented in day-to-day activities.
As a BCCSA-COR® certified organization, Can Ridge Industries Ltd. strives to continually improve worker and workplace safety. The health and safety of our team members is our #1 priority. We thank our team members for their continued participation and commitment to safety.
